If I am a soldier and have a night mission on a deep cave filled with sleeping enemies with rifles in their hands, can I shoot them?
Hello friends,
upvoted me my article and comment
A few years ago, there was a group of US Navy SEALs in Afghanistan that was faced with a platoon-sized force of Taliban fighters sleeping inside a cave in the mountains.
The SEALs decided not to shoot the Taliban. Instead, they went in there with their knives. I learned this story from a journalist friend who had spoken to a Swedish soldier whose unit had been attached to the SEALs. The poor Swede was still traumatized by the incident.

Of course, you can also shoot the enemy in their sleep, however, you should be aware of the following things:
- Your bullets might ricochet off the cave's walls and hurt someone from your own people.
- They won't sleep anymore after the first rounds are fired. It will be messy and chaotic.
- It also will be terribly loud, so you better wear some good hearing protection.
Alternatively, you can use any other weapon you want. Flame throwers are ideal for this scenario and so are guided anti-tank missiles (they are quite expensive, though).
If you worry that you are committing a war crime, rest assured, you don’t. Your enemy doesn’t lose their combatant status just because they went to sleep.

What did Britain gain by imposing the end of legal slave trade in countries in the Americas that didn't even belong to them? We know they didn't care about the Blacks, as they would coldly sink the "cargo" of any infringing slaveship they could find.
Two parts to this question, so here we go…
“What did Britain gain by imposing the end of legal slave trade in countries in the Americas that didn't even belong to them?”
It was a moral crusade. The Abolitionists had won the hearts and minds of the British public and the British government. Britain was a world power. As the pre-eminent naval power of its time, and for another century, GB decided that slavery was a stain on civilisation, and therefore was going to end it!
The RN was tasked with setting up the West Africa Squadron and later the East Africa Station to eradicate slavery, at least that which involved the sea.
“We know they didn't care about the Blacks, as they would coldly sink the "cargo" of any infringing slaveship they could find.”
Bollox. Evidence please. In rebuttal of your claim against the RN I give you “Rescued slaves on HMS Daphne 1868…”
And “Slave shackle being removed by a British sailor, 1907”
Freed slaves on HMS Sphinx…
The crew gave them new clothes to replace their worn rags…
And the slaver in custody…
